Hooker Barbie to hit the streets (literally) this September

Coming this September to a toy store near you...red lamp not included.
Seriously, did Barbie hit the Neverland Ranch estate sale and raid Michael Jackson's closet? It kind of even looks like she's trying to moonwalk.
Let's pray that Mattel grabs a clue and realizes that putting this plastic toy tramp on toy store shelves is a marketing disaster waiting to happen. Moms are already fed up with the rampant sexualization of women that bombards their daughters on a daily basis. If enough mothers are faced with having to explain why Ballerina Barbie is standing next to Dominatrix Barbie on the Toys R Us shelf, it's likely to inspire an angry mom lynch mob.
This Barbie needs to hop on her Harley and right off into the sunset...and fast.

Vicki,
Although I don't have small girls or 'tweens' at home now, I am around quite a few young girls at church. And also have a toddler granddaughter that I want to not have to worry about concerning the toys, music, etc. that she will want to have in a few years. So THANK YOU for taking the time to find all this info that you are sharing with us.
You're a real blessing!

I knew this morning that we were headed this way when I heard that Mattel had won their lawsuit against the company that makes Bratz for "stealing their design."
Did you see Miley on GMA this morning? Any thoughts?
I never was allowed to play with Barbie when I was little...now maybe I understand why.
Wasn't it in your bookazine, Vicki, that I read something about the fact that if we looked like Barbie, we'd have to walk on our hands and knees? Why add hooker clothes to that unreachable body we call Barbie?
Ick.
Hey Dori, didn't know Miley was on GMA so I went and watched the concert online. She has such a good stage presence and I very much appreciated that she wasn't wearing the micro short shorts that so many girls (Christian included) are wearing.
So many little girls in the audience--it must be overwhelming. The song is catchy, but for more of an older audience. My 18 year old has it on her iPod already.
I recently went to a birthday party for one of my daughter's classmates who was turning 6. With Emma's own birthday coming up, the mothers were asking me what she likes. And then they started throwing out the suggestions of Bratz, High School Musical, Hannah Montana, etc. My stomach got all twisted up inside. Did these mothers (some of whom had daughters of their own this age) really think that those were appropriate interests for 6 year olds?
Even my mother-in-law is on my case about how I don't let Emma watch those shows. According to her, I should let her watch age-appropriate things. Um, no thanks. Emma will keep on watching Dora the Explorer, Little Einsteins, and Barbie Princesses all she wants.
I am amazed.
You have got to be kidding!! I am ever more convienced that not having a TV is a good thing! We have 5 kids and we homeschool so they have never been into the latest and greatest toys or "things" and after seeing these sort of things I am so glad!
Why is the line between Bratz and Barbie becoming more and more blurred? Ugh. I've heard that this Barbie is actually supposed to replicated Black Canary. So who knows what their real intentions were.
If the famous words of my 8 year old niece...O M G! Do you think Matel would turn Ken into her pimp? If todays teenage idols dress like this and create clothes line, then I guess Matel feels they need to compete with them. What they need to do is get a clue and have some back bone. Harsh I know but I feel it's true.
So sad. I was also upset to see Batman toys in the store yesterday. A very dark movie marketed in to toys for little boys. Very sad indeed.
Welcome to the world Barbie Black Canary (as if that makes it any better). She's a rather violent D.C. Comics "superhero." And I can't believe they are actually putting this doll on the shelves. YUCK. On the internet for weird comic-book obsessed collectors, maybe, but not anywhere within reach of a kid!
I don't know if this helps but, they were talking about this doll on The View earlier this week. The "girls" did not care for it and I was shocked to see it then. I was wondering if you were going to comment on it :)
Vicki-What a sweet privilege to get to meet you face to face at the CBA! I have taught God's Word for many years but have only recently ventured into self-publishing. It has been a grand adventure-full of exhileration and exhaustion in equal measure. This was my first trip to CBA and it was exciting to see the many venues God is using to make Jesus known. Thank you for taking time to visit with my dear friend, Renae, and myself. And for letting us get pictures made with you! We were both blessed and encouraged. May God continue to empower you to tackle the hard issues of raising children in the midst of this crooked and perverse generation. You are a light in a dark age. Blessings. Jean Stockdale
Hi!
I went to search for this Barbie and couldn't find it anywhere - not on Mattel's site, Amazon.com or even on a general Internet search. The last only came up with other blogs that had referenced the doll. While I would be very alarmed if this doll were to be made, I'm wondering if this is an Internet hoax or rumor that has spread without being verified.
Hi Sheri! I got the story from FoxNews.com here:

The doll isn't due to release until September...
My Chris called me from the toy aisle at Wal-mart before Christmas this past year. Here is what he said, "Have you seen the Barbie dolls lately? Man, I just walked by them and now I feel dirty." To which I replied, that is why you see no Barbies in our house, honey, and why we spend more than we should on Americal Girl dolls.
Of course I meant, "American." I need spell check on my comments!
O Wow, the god of this world has blinded Mattel...are they serious?? I thought it was a joke at first...What mother in her right mind would buy that? What mother would?...one who is blinded herself. O LORD, have mercy on us, on our nation, we need help...

Yes, yes, yes! AMEN!!!
It is so sad how our young girls are being sexually exploited and having their innocence ripped out from under them right before their parent's eyes!!!
WOW! I'm speechless. Is Mattel really that dumb?
Wow, this was such an eye opener and left me speechless. My husband stood beside me and said, "are you serious?" Thanks for making me aware as I have 3 little girls ages 6, 4, 2.
Vicki,
Although my daughter is a little older I am still shocked, saddened and even a little bit sickened by the new "Tramp Barbie." For all impressionable girls, you should consider Girls'n Grace dolls, not only a Christian alternative, but a doll whose purpose is to spread the Gospel and the very important message of grace. Don't mean to be a walking commercial, but when there's something out there that you really believe in, you should spread the news. I did the same with YOUR GIRL. When I was a new mom at a new school, I asked 4 prospective friends to read and discuss it with me. Then we started having mother/daughter get-togethers, and eventually took over half the girls and their moms to a Yada Yada, Jr. event. Thnaks for what you do Vicki and WAR EAGLE!!!
