Warning: This Virtue Alert will require a barf bag

The following is from the Family Research Council's "Washington Update":

WARNING: This item contains shocking and graphic content funded by your tax dollars.

Given the recent allegations against Planned Parenthood, one would think the organization would play it safe over the next few months and try to exercise some restraint. But the plan to stay under the media's radar is failing dismally in Oregon and Washington, where the local affiliate is making a full-scale assault on the morality of the states' young people.

On its new website, TakeCareDownThere.org, the group posts a series of videos so revolting that members of my staff were visibly shaken. In one clip, a girl tells her friends that she's staying home from a party to masturbate. When her pals look shocked, she says, "What? I like me. I like spending time with me. Tonight I think I'm going to go all the way with me." On another video, a "teacher" interrupts a boy performing oral sex on another boy and asks them where their condoms are. Others include videos called "Threesome" and "Let me do me," and a song about genitalia that reaches a level of vulgarity that would give even crude networks like MTV pause.

This site is nothing more than an online playground for the prurient. The screen promises "the ins and outs about the ins and outs," but the material is highly inappropriate for adults, let alone young children. Sadly, most parents are unaware that garbage like this is targeting their kids, and even fewer realize that they're paying for it! The website is a project of Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette, a Title X grantee. This is exactly why FRC has prodded President Bush to change the government's Title X regulations. Each year, Planned Parenthood pockets more than $300 million of your tax dollars. One way to de-fund the group responsible for obscene material like this is to end the meshing of Title X "family planning" funds with abortion mills. Call the White House switchboard today at 202-456-1414 and ask President Bush to separate these funds before more children are caught up in Planned Parenthood's pornographic web.

If you are a parent, I want to encourage you to take the time to click here to visit this lewd site and watch a few of the clips. They were all shockingly offensive, but the one entitled "I didn't spew" will likely motivate you to pick up your phone and call the White House switchboard today. Remember, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." (Edmund Burke)

When I called the White House, I simply told the operator, "I would like to make an appeal to President Bush to put an end to the meshing of Title X family planning funds." I was then put through to a comment line where I had to give my state and repeat my request. I timed the call and the whole process took one minute and 15 seconds.

If you make the call, will you comment below and let me know? Also, please consider forwarding this "Virtue Alert" to other concerned parents in your address book. If they haven't subscribed to my weekly "Virtue Alerts", they can do so by clicking here.

I would also recommend that you visit the Parents for Truth website. When you get there, be sure to watch the "Comprehensive Sex Ed Exposed" clip and then click on "What's happening in your state" to find out what your children will be taught if they are in the public schools.

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (1 John 4:4)

Wow. I am a brand new parent and have been sharing your site with many of my friends. We have had many conversations about being concerned with raising teens in this environment... and I am thankful for your site and your family! I have passed this particular article on to several, and my husband and I will be calling the White House this afternoon. My husband also plans to pass this particular article out to his entire seminary community...
Thanks for being eyes for the rest of us.

I cant even believe that video. I am disgusted! I mean talk about going way over the edge.

Ok...so I just called the White House. A definite first for me! The "comment" lady was so not nice...when I gave her my comment she paused and said "Oookkayy." I then further explained the website and she responded with another sllooww ooookkkk. I have to say I felt a little stupid but I really dont care. As long as he gets the message! I just pray President Bush can do something before he leaves.
Also, all of the lines were busy so I am hoping they were a bunch of Virtue Alert moms calling!
Thanks for keeping us posted!

You can call directly to the comment line 202-456-1111. I just called and the lady on the line was very professional. Just wondering if the Title X is called Title ten or the letter x.
Thank you for making us aware of this horrible site.

Vicki,
I, too, made the call and left the comment. I hope that this will get President Bush's attention. THANK YOU for making us aware of it!

I will just take your word as to how awful and graphic and lewd the video clips are. I know if I watch them, then the images and sounds will just keep playing over and over in my mind. I certainly don't want any of our children viewing a site like this! I pray that they will be removed soon!

May God bless you for alerting us to the "NON-Virtue" of the little 'side-shows' that Planned Parenthood has come out with!

This makes me absolutely sick!! I called just a minute ago, and it was very easy. I urge all who are concerned about this to make their voices heard. That's one of the things that makes our country great. Thanks, Vicki for spreading the word!!

I called the White House comment line and the voice mail was full. I waited for an operator and had no luck. I was kept on hold for a long time. I emailed President Bush and told him how I think it is wrong to use our tax dollars to support a program such as this on at www.takecaredownthere.com .Thank you Vicki for making us aware of this matter.

Well, folks must be calling because I was on hold (for just a few minutes) before I could leave my comment. It was not a problem at all. I am not one to send "forwards" to my email list, but this one I will. Thanks for letting us know and giving us a way to make a difference!

I'm living overseas otherwise I'd call. If I can find the right website or e-mail address I'll use that.

I visited your blog for the first time today. I really like it. :D

I put it a call. It took a bit longer for me. The hold time was maybe 10 minutes and the comment mail box was full. So then I had to hang up and call back. However, I did get through. The direct number to the comment line is 202-456-1111

Vicki,

I absolutely made the call...thank you for the warning! It was quick and easy. I had to hold for only about one minute and the operator was very friendly! I encourage others to take a few moments to make this very important call!

I too got right on the phone and made my call. I had to leave a message though. I have also emailed all the parents of teens on my list...even those with boys!

It sickens me to think any child could get into that garbage and watch it.

Thanks Vicki for the warning!!

I made the call. Thankfully Texas has an opt out for sex ed. We still need to be vigilant in protecting our children.

Thanks for helping us to stay informed.

I made the call and sent the email to several friends and pastors. Thank you for keeping parents informed.

I am truly repulsed by this. What kind of message are we sending to our children if we let the garbage continue. I will be passing this on and then the next thing I am doing is making a much required phone call. Thanks Vicki for always keeping me in the know!

I read your warnings and was still shocked by what I saw in those clips.

I linked to this post on my blog and emailed the link to friends and family.

I called the hotline, but it was past 5 pm on the east coast. I will be calling back tomorrow! Thank you for the head's up.

Made the call - it was quick and painless. (I spend more time trying to get a live person when I call my cellphone company).

The site disgusts me. The fact that my tax dollars pay for it disgusts me even more. The fact that I live in Oregon and just KNOW this garbage and stuff like it will be pushed at my kids in school...? Word cannot express.

Thank you so much for this.

I am outraged that my tax dollars are at work in this way. I almost feel the need to apologise for being part of the human race!! I'll call the comment line tomorrow. It wasn't open. Vivian

Great work detective! As an abstinence educator in my city, I am not easily shocked because I see and hear so many tragic things among our students. This however is beyond words. It seems like every month something else even more extreme than before, is another temptation for our kids. It still baffles me why 'should be responsible' adults, continue to create the very thing that is destroying our youth. Every year as the school year approaches, my team looks at how we can reach more parents to teach them how to monitor what their children are up against. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I will definitely pass the word around, as well as make the call!

I spent about an hour last night looking around the Internet in the hopes that this was a parody site. I just can't believe that this is a real site for real teenagers. Perhaps I'm just in denial. ;)

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but what makes me even sadder is that if this is a real site, the information is so poorly presented that teens won't really learn anything. The research shows that teenagers have sex. Even Christian teens and even teens who sign pledges of purity. So advocating the use of condoms and warning of the dangers of STDs should be useful. However, viewers of this site are probably too busy laughing with their friends to really get the message.

I just visited the takecaredownthere website and I was very disappointed to know that many of our children will be made aware of this site when they return to school(probably their health teacher or friends)I can only imagine how this grieves our Heavenly Father.

Thanks, vicki for your knowledge and boldness. I appreciate the info you pass along.

I just called the white house and spoke with a very nice woman. I explained why I was calling and she was actually asking legitimate questions and sounded concerned. She also suggested that I send an email to whitehouse.gov, attention "Agency Liason", and give them information regarding the agencies responsible for this garbage. I have an old computer and I could not even access the website which is probably a good thing! Thanks for the heads up and maybe more of us can send an email to "Agency Liason".

My husband and I looked at the video and jaws dropped! We were amazed. Thanks for the heads up as we have 3 little girls coming up the road in the public school system in Texas. It allowed me to view what exactly they are teaching.
Thanks.

Thanks for sounding the alarm!!

I called...The operator said, "Oh yes, I've heard about this." I expressed my disgust at the website and the fact it is tax-payer funded. My specific request was for President Bush to log on and take a look.

'Better for a millstone to be tied around your neck and be thrown into the ocean than to lead one of these little ones astray'.

Oh yes, I believe there's a special place reserved for Planned Parenthood.

Vicki, I think you and your readers are missing the point. You and your children are not the target audience for ads like these. You will teach, protect and love your children. However, there are millions of kids out there with neglectful or abusive parents who may be pressured into sexual situations with no knowledge of protection from pregnancy and/or STDs. Do you honestly believe these kids are going to abstain from these activities? If this prevents one kid from becoming pregnant at 14 or catching an STD, I'm all for letting them watch it. In the scary world they live in, this is mild. Your children and my children would be understandably grossed out by this because they have been lucky enough to be raised by loving parents, but many children are not. Really, the crime of the people who created this is that it is so poorly done on so many levels. It's possible to get the information out to them in a better way and they missed their chance. --Melissa

I reviewed the website and felt like I was watching something I wasn't suppose to see. Very lewd behavior. So, I did make the call to the President's Comment Line. And Jeremiah 6:15 comes to mind: "Are they ashamed of their loathesome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush." The creators and actors at this website do not even know how to BLUSH.

USAincognito said...

I watched the videos. They are very poorly done and, in a way, almost make fun of sex and/or the "safe sex" education. Very distasteful and tacky and inappropriately done. I am still stunned that Planned Parenthood actually made these videos!

Dana said...

I watched the video, now I am making the call. Thanks Vicki for making us aware.

This is totally random and not a comment to do with this post, but we need some help. Vicki, I know your heart on this. Can you ask your readers, it doesn't matter where you live, to go to www.chattanoogan.com and vote on the poll NO to an abortion clinic being opened here. Chattanooga's abortion clinic was closed many years ago and we are one of the largest cities in the US that does not have one. We want to keep it that way. Please go vote!

I just called and the lady that I spoke with was amazingly nice and told me she would be sure to pass that along today.

Thanks for keeping us updated on what is going on. I couldn't make it through the videos...but heard enough to make the call. I was in pure shock!

It was great to meet you at ICRS and I hope that all is going great with your book since it won "a major award"! Congrats!

I tried to call this morning, but the comment line wasn't open yet. However, according to someone else's post, I sent an e-mail. Here's the address: comments@whitehouse.gov.
I will call later as well.

Thanks, Vicki, for doing the dirty work for us. I don't want to watch the videos. Your explanation alone was enough to make me forward the e-mail and contact the white house.
