Give-away!

WE HAVE WINNERS! Congratulations to:

ToKnowHim: http://toknowhimjesus.blogspot.com/
Calista: http://canigetawitness-calista.blogspot.com/

It's time...for a give-away! This week, we have two copies of Nancy Rue's book, "Healing Waters." I personally read this book a few months back and absolutely loved it. Two copies mean...TWO WINNERS!

If you could have lunch with one person (currently living!), who would it be? Remember, if you don't have a blog profile, leave an email. We'll draw a winner in one week!

I would have lunch with my mom. She lives in another state and I don't get to see her very often. Sometimes I just need my mom's physical presence instead of talking via the phone or e-mail!

Well...you. I just found your site and I'm very excited to read your book 5 Conversations. I have 3 daughters the oldest is 7. As you well know all of her girlfriends are in to H. Montanna, HSM, & The Jonas... It diturbs me that the parents that I have had casual conversation with feel that the subject matter represented is harmless. I just don't believe that dating & prom issues are appropriate for (in my case) a 7 year old.

You or Elizabeth George. You both are my favorite Christian authors.

There are a lot of TV and Movie stars I would like to meet but none I would want to sit down and spend time visiting.

I have to agree with some of the other women on here.. I would have to flip a coin between you & Beth Moore. The only problem is a lunch would not be long enough.
Maybe even Condi Rice or Bobby Flay.. but onlt if he is cooking.

Goodness, what a tough question! I don't have the name of a person, but I'd love to have lunch with a mom who has walked through the highs and lows of having a child with a behavior disorder. Us mommies need encouragement and advice sometimes!

Thanks for the opportunity!

President George W. Bush so I could thank him for being a man of integrity and principal, for doing the right thing even when it wasn't popular. I would also like to hear what kept him sane during the last eight years.

There's so many, but I think I'd have to say Pres. Obama. I'd like to ask him some questions to know why, as a Christian, he has taken the liberal stance. I would use my time with him to pray with him & hope he sees the oppression of the unborn & changes his mind about abortion!

Jenn said...

Wow... to choose... George W. Bush would be one.. just to know what REALLY happened behind closed doors. I still admire him and I'd like him to know it. I'd love to meet with Beth Moore or Elizabeth Elliot as well. Their both phenomonal women. As for a personal friend, my friend Nikki.. She lives a few states away and she is such a blessing to me!

I'd love to have lunch with George Bush - he's definitely made some mistakes, but he did his best, and I was disappointed in the cruelness of America during the end of his second term, and especially when he left the White House for the last time. I'd love to have lunch with him and thank him for his dedication to our country.

Only one?

More than anything, I'd like to be able to take each of my four children out to lunch one-on-one.

But if I have to choose just one person, I'd choose my pastor's wife because she's great to talk to and needs to get out of her office every once in a while.

Cathy Davis said...

Well, I'm glad this won't appear like a suck-up type of response, because my response is Beth Moore, you (and preferably but you only asked for one person) or any of the Siestas I've come to know!

BTW, I gave away my copy of 5 Conversations to a mom with a baby girl and an 8 year old step-daughter which is why I haven't participated in the book club!

That's a hard one, but like many have said, I think I would have to go with Beth Moore. :)

I would love to have lunch with Beth Moore. I think I would get a big kick out of hearing her talk, but I'd also like to thank her for the influence she's had on my life because of her Bible studies. I did my first one in college, with a group of older women and it profoundly changed the way I viewed God's word. I would love to thank her in person for that.

My Grandmother. She was the wittiest woman I knew. I still regret not visiting her that last time right before she died.

I'm surprised so many people picked GWB- that was my initial thought as well.

But once I pondered it a little, I think I have settled on a totally selfish and frivolous choice:

Matthew Fox.

I am not given to celebrity crushes or anything, but I have had a constant affection for him since the first time I saw him on Party of Five.

Sad perhaps that this my choice, but heck, at least I am being honest :)

If I could have lunch with anyone living... hmmmmmmm... probably my friend Cheryl Barlow. She is a dear friend from high school that I haven't seen in 25+ years who I've most recently connected with via Facebook. She spent 20+ years living in the gay lifestyle, but upon giving birth to her daughter Gracie, she felt there was something more. Long story short, she's since found Jesus, went through a horrendous custody battle with her former partner, and is now victorious!! She was just recently was appointed the music director at her church! Her story is awesome. She is a great inspiration to so many!

I would have lunch with Julie Johnson, the woman who brought me to the Lord six years ago. Unfortunately, "Julie Johnson" is a VERY common name, and I was unable to obtain her contact information upon leaving the program so I have not been able to speak with her since and thank her for bringing me to Christ.

I would probably have lunch with Melanie from Big Mama. She's so hilarious but also has a heart for Christ. It is so refreshing to be around people like that!!

I think it would be awesome to have lunch with you! I have really enjoyed your books, blog, and Bible Study for teen girls.
Okay, so if I couldn't have lunch with you, I have a great friend in China that I would love to have a girly lunch with. She doesn't get to do that kind of thing often and I miss her very much.

I would have lunch with my mom. On days when things are not certain, her voice, her hugs and her never-ending love seem to heal the hurts and set my mind back on the right thing(s). She doesn't live close by and we don't see each other often (and when we do see each other there's too much going on and too many people around)- to be able to treat her to lunch would be really special.

I would carve out part of the day and retreat to "just" lunch with my husband. It would be sweet because if we have lunch now it's because a family issue has escalated and needs to be talked about - not fun!

I'd love to have lunch with my friend/mentor Linda. We met through a homeschooling chat group and have emailed and spoken on the phone but have never met in person! She lives in New York and I live in Texas, and we're both busy moms with 5 kids, so it would be a real treat to have lunch and meet in person for the first time! :D

Leslie Ludy... She is an amazing christian author. Her and her husband, eric, have pushed me far beyond my mediocre christianity. She has challenged me to more than just praying and reading my bible...She has taught me you MUST have a personal relationship with Jesus and sacrifice everything. she inspires me daily... i would love to have lunch with her.

I would choose Michelle Obama because she seems like a very knowledgable and caring person. She strikes me as being very involved in her daughters' lives and their schools etc. I also think that she is such a tremendous example to women of all races.

Hi Vicki!
Does it have to be just ONE person?

I would choose Chuck Swindoll first.
But then yourself and Beth Moore would be awesome as well!!
Chuck Swindoll has always spoken on my level and I just have so much respect for him as a speaker and a bible teacher.
Thanks for the chance.

Normally when asked this question, I would say the apostle Paul or some other Biblical figure who I had questions for. However, when I got married I was unable to meet my husband's grandpa. He had passed away years before. I would love to sit down with Grandpa Bert and hear the stories that he is so famous for telling. He was so involved in my husband's life and was/is a very crucial part of why my husband became the man he is today. I would love to meet someone who had that amount of importance in the life of someone I am so very close to.

I would have lunch with my husband. We have 4 young children and a moment alone together is few and far between. Not too mention I wouldn't have to cut anyone else's food! :)

I'd have lunch with my mom. She lives overseas and I see her maybe once a year or so. And we'd probably go out to eat thai food, because my husband doesn't like it, and it's extra special to go eat it with Mom.

Honestly I think I would like to have lunch with James Dobson. He has always been such an advocate for the family and had such a vision for his FOF and what it could do for families.
I'd love to convince him to to a video series on Bringing up Girls. Combined with your books on Girls and boys his books have really impacted my family.

I would love to have lunch with President George W Bush and his wife. To talk with them about the time he was in office and hear some of the many stories and facts that we did not get to hear while he was in office. jbeugnot@gmail.com

I would love to have lunch with my birth mom whom I never met. I would like to let her know that she made the best decision she ever had to put me up for adoption instead abortion. I want to thank her for her unselfish act of thinking what is best for me and my future. I have a beautiful life with loving adopted parents whom I dearly love. I just want to thank her and let her know that I love her for what she had done for me. I just want to thank Jesus for let me live so I can share of love of Jesus Christ to my adopted family. Thank you Jesus so much again. May the Lord bless you and keep Him in your heart, in Jesus' name. Amen

If I could have lunch with anyone it would be...my best friend or my brother and just hang out. I don't really go hang out with my friends unless it is with the entire youth group. Or my brother because he got a girlfriend a few months ago and we don't hang out as much as we used to, I miss that.
