Guess what I got in the mail yesterday? My author copies of my latest release: 5 Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter (Bible study) and the accompanying DVD kit for church use! And oh my, are they perty, perty, perty. Usually I receive copies of my books BEFORE they hit the store shelves, but the Bible study actually released to the stores about a week and a half ago. In fact, I was at the You & Your Girl event in Kentucky and was pleasantly surprised to hear that it was for sale in the on-site bookstore! Now, for an author, that's kind of like someone seeing one of your babies after he/she is born and getting to hold him/her before you do. Kinda weird.

I was actually signing some of the Bible study books during my book-signing at the event and asked the first woman who handed me a copy of the Bible study (in pic below) if she minded if I thumbed through it for a minute! She looked at me a bit strangely, but like a new mother who has just been handed her little one for the first time, I had a sudden urge to do the ten fingers/ten toes check. Never mind that a line of people patiently waited while I examined my new baby. The only thing missing was the attractive hospital gown and a cup of ice chips on a tray beside me. On a positive note, I looked a bit more presentable for this mother/child photo opp.

Now, this story has a happy ending and since my publisher also manages my events, one of the staff was able to sweet-talk the bookstore manager into sparing me a copy, so I could peruse the book and watch the DVD sessions on my way home. Thank you, Kris Seidenkranz! All that to say, you can only imagine my excitement to receive my author copies yesterday. But, the first thing I noticed after Mr. UPS Man brought the boxes into my foyer was this:

Take a close look at the name on the mailing label. "Victoria?" My birth name is not "Victoria," but I've always wished it was! Anyway, it was kind of fun to see it on the boxes and have the UPS guy ask me if I'm "Victoria Courtney" before I signed off on the delivery. I was tempted to say, "I'm sorry. What was that you just said?" in an effort to hear it one more time, but he seemed in a bit of a rush, so I refrained. I have an editor who calls me "Victoria" on occasion, so I have a sneaking suspicion that he had something to do with the temporary name change on the label.

In celebration of my new release, I am going to give away two copies of the DVD kit which includes: a member book, leader's guide, and six DVD teaching sessions ($149.95 value!). All you have to do to enter the drawing is comment below and tell me that you'll use it for group study or pass it along to your church for future use. I would love to also know the name of your church and city/state, just for fun. And don't forget to include an email address in your comment if you don't have a blog profile where we can track you down if you win. We'll draw two winners on Wednesday, May 6th and announce them one week from today. Good luck and thanks for celebrating this release with me!

Oh, and here's a short promo clip about the study that my publisher put together for churches who need a tool to announce the upcoming study. It will give you an overview of the basics:

I would love to win this and pass it on to our Youth Minister's wife. Vicki, I would love to win this study material! I've read the book and soaked up all the info I could. I grab it often and look thinking "what did Vicki say?". After reading 5 conversations I bought tickets & booked a hotel then whisked my daughter out of school early and headed to Houston for the You and Your Girl Conference. It was a wonderful trip and we both loved the conference. The skit from your son's youth group was an added bonus! Thanks for all of your hard work to bring us moms the information that we so desperately need! I can't wait to share this study with all the moms of my daughter's friends. This would be a great study to dive into over the summer!

I would love to do this study in my church! One of the things I really like about it is that you give us as moms the tools to shape and impact our daughters. I see far too many Christians that rely on the church to teach their daughters about some of these topics.

Hi Vicki,
I have been noticing the book every time I've gone to your stuff. I know it is a book I will eventually get for going through with my daughter. God continues to bring things like this across my path to do with my daughter, Christa. From Secret Keeper Girl to the Dobson and Rainey Adolescent Series. This Saturday I hope to have our last date from a "Growing Little Women" series. I am definitely open to using this DVD kit to help some other young girls and would pass it along to our church for future use. It is my heart's desire that my daughter and I have a relationship that I never had with my mom and in so doing help her to avoid making the same horrible mistakes I made as a teenager. We'll see what God has in mind with this study.

I teach the teenage girls at our church and have a daughter of my own. One of our prayers (myself and the other lady who works with the teen girls) is to have mothers engaged in their daughters' lives from AN EARLY AGE. I would LOVE this and would put it to great use in our church - perhaps an annual study! :) Thank you SO MUCH, Vicki, for giving these away!

I would LOVE to have this study. I read the book along with MANY more and have been having ongoing discussions with my 12 year old daughter. Apparently I send out a vibe to other girls to talk also, as I have them asking me questions at random times also. Thrilled they are open enough to ask me, but even more cautious with my answers since I'm not their mom. I can't be educated or informed enough!

It was so ironic that we moms had been talking prior to KY about how we needed to guard our daughter's hearts and that we needed to put the brakes on their growing up. Your conference confirmed in our hearts what we needed to do.

There were 3 of us moms and our 3 daughters that go to school together that traveled to KY together. During our amazing weekend, we moms were discussing how we could get your bible study and use it this summer with our girls and then in turn use it in our church. We would LOVE to be picked as a winner!!!

I would love to have this study. I have been to your events and read your blog and books religiously. You have inspired me to start my own (http://akrosstheline.blogspot.com/) which I hope to be the jumping off point for a ministry in the area of conservative politico-family issues covering a broad range of topics. Additionally, I have recently joined a home school group and would love to lead this study as a cooperative class for the other families in the group. So, my interest is two-pronged... 1) as research material for my writing and 2) As long as participation is high in the homeschool coop class, I may continue to lead it as an ongoing offering and become an expert. But if interest or participation dwindles, I will not let it sit and collect dust! I will pass it on to our dynamic local youth group which is at Trinity Church here in Temple, TX. Thanks for offering this drawing. What a great way to stimulate activity also. Fine idea!

We also have a 14 year old son who is entering high school in the fall. My husband and I have volunteered with our youth group since our church began a few years ago. I have been praying about a study like this to share with moms and daughters along with my experience of raising a daughter. Perhaps we can even share what we learn with our sons as well. I would LOVE to do this study. I have 2 girls, ages 7 1/2 and 9. Last night I had to have a talk with my 9 year old about some of the hard-to-talk-about stuff. I was praying and God was so good. He was there and in our conversation. It is so hard. I was thinking that if I don't educate her, someone else will.
Thank you for what you do.

God's perfect timing. I am currently leading a Your Girl study at our church and we were just discussing yesterday how we want to do the 5 Conversation Study in the fall. I served on the committee for the Katy event. It was AWESOME. We took so much home with us. Our group consists of 23 moms from various churches in the Katy area. The common thread is that we all want to raise Godly daughters to live IN the world, not OF the world. We would LOVE to win this study and reach out to additional moms in the community later this year.

If I were to win this Bible study, I would be thrilled to share it with the moms at my church and also in our community. What a great way to reach other moms in our community. Oh, the possibilities for doors to open. I get excited just thinking about it.

Thank you so much for entering me in this great giveaway.

While I am the last person I would pick to LEAD a group at church, I know God has been burdening my heart for young girls and their mothers (aunts, grandmothers, caregivers). If I win, I promise to use this study with our church and interested community participants and then pass it along! Keep writing.

Wow! How cool would this be to do with the gals myself, my daughter, and another mom have been mentoring at our church. Since my husband has become pastor here, several parents who had pre-teens and teens drop out of church have seen their kids come back to church. This would be a great resource in our outreach to them and trying to keep them connected with their parents and with God in their lives. We are actually a fairly small church, but our folks have big hearts. My daughter and I enjoyed hearing you in Buffalo a couple of years ago. Thank you for helping to set a powerful beginning to her teen years. She is about to turn 16 and is turning into a beautiful, Godly woman. We talk often about how close we grew together because of that event and how that was the beginning of so many possibilities in our relationship. Thank you for letting God use you to speak to us.

I have a daughter that is 16 and I would love to do this Bible study with her and her friends at church and school.(she attends a private Christian school) I would share it with our church and the school. I am also involved with teaching the younger girls at our church so there are many opportunities to share this in our community. Even if I don't win thanks for writing this.

This would be a fabulous thing to win! I'm a single mom to two girls - ages 9 and 12. And my church, Harvest Christian Fellowship in North Platte, Nebraska has several groups that I could envision making use of this study. I also attend a women's group at the Berean church which has many young moms - I'd be happy to share it with them, too. Thank you for the chance.

My daughter is starting middle school in the fall. I would love to donate this program to Grace Episcopal Church in Paducah, KY, as a learning tool to help prepare my daughter and her friends for the myriad "adventures" they are sure to face!

Many thanks,

I'd love to lead a study for my 13-year-old precious daughter and her friends and classmates. Right now, I'm missing her terribly as my husband and I are in the Ukraine adopting 3 children. Two of the children are girls (age 8 and 6) so it won't be long before the study can be used to teach these precious girls who have been hurt time and time again that they are loved by their Creator and made with a body, mind, heart and soul that is precious to Him. We live in Kentucky and go to Calvary Baptist Church in Northern Kentucky. My daughter and I attended one the You and Your Girl events in Lexington last fall with some friends and learned so much. I love the thought of being HOME with my WHOLE family and sharing this study with girls in our area. Thank you for considering. Love, Jenny Borden (also would love the prayers of your bloggers for our 3 children at home and the adoption process here. We have a court date next Thursday).

I would love to lead this study! I read the excerpts on Lifeway and KNOW this information is a must for all mom's with daughters. My daughter is our only child, not by choice, and all she talks about is when I am older. In reading some of the workbook questions I was shocked at how many items that I can't check yet - but am being asked about constantly. In a world that is consumed with materialism and looks - this book couldn't have come out at a better time! This study should be done by every mother with a daughter. I can't wait to lead this class.

Vicki, I would love to introduce your Bible Study to our church moms and daughters! I was attending a benefit dinner last night for "Care Net Pregnancy Center of Orleans County" ~ a non-profit, faith-based ministry in Western NY, and your study would be a wonderful "tool" for our community outreach as well. Thanks for the Spirit-filled inspiration that went into this work ~ "we are His workmanship..." -- my prayers that God would greatly bless the lives of those who read it!

Last summer, my two friends and prayer partners did your study, His Girl, with our three 11 year old daughters. We were just discussing earlier this week what study we could do this summer with the girls. This would be an answer to our prayers! I also have another 8-year-old daughter and would love to include her and some of her friends and moms. Some are Christians and some are not, but what an awesome way to plant some seeds. I would love to do this study in my home and invite neighbor moms and their daughters! I would also then donate the materials to my church, Burnt Hickory Baptist Church in Powder Springs, GA.

I am sooo excited for you Victoria!
Congratulations! I would love the opportunity to experience holding your "baby". I am a leader of a girls group called GGIF. "Girls Growing in Faith" is a group of girls ages 3rd to 8th grade. The Moms of these girls have been expressing their desire to have a discussion/study group to support their daughters in these often challenging times. Your study would be awesome to teach.

Praise the Lord sis. Vicki! i just recently heard of you and your website/ministry, which was a serious God-send! i grew up as a latch-key kid and today sit with two teenage daughters...wowzers! well, long story short, it was a God-send because, though i grew up having a mom (physically), i did not have her mentally nor emotionally. Now, how do i deal with my daughters if i was never dealt with?? this is where you and your ministry come in! THANK YOU JESUS!! also, my husband and i just started a chruch in newman, ca., El Bethel N&F Ministries, and we already have a beautiful youth group with many beautiful young teen girls. it's so sad hearing some of there stories, but i thank God i'm hear to share in the tears and healing! so, please, i would be extremely honored to develop a teen girls bible study group with your curric. it will be an AWESOME tool in our church!
blessings to you and your ministry.

Hi! I have an 11 year old daughter who is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. She is going into middle school this fall and has already experienced heartache of losing a best friend over things she doen't have. I would love to do this bible study with her, as well as see our church be able to reinforce God given values. (At the moment our church does not have any parenting classes or parenting bible studies). I really believe this would be a wonderful Vacation Bible School class and reference material for our members, youth leaders and bible study leader. Thank you for the opportunity!
