A recap of You & Your Girl/Kentucky

video

Words cannot begin to express what God did at the You & Your Girl event this past weekend in Kentucky. The slideshow and accompanying song will give you a glimpse into the day. Our theme verse for the event was Proverbs 4:23 which says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do." With so much facing our girls in today's culture, we can't protect them from the damaging influences even if we make it our full-time job. Therefore, it is essential to teach them how to guard and protect their own hearts...to put Christ first in their hearts...first in their minds...and in everything they long for in their lives.

Enjoy the slideshow of the event. The song playing is "First in My Heart" by Kelly Minter. She was our worship leader at the event and closed with this very song as a sea of mothers and girls wept and prayed together. As I watched the commitment time, I was overwhelmed by the thought that God allows me any part at all in His kingdom purposes. And as Kelly sang, I too, wept and prayed that He would be first in my heart, above all else...everything I long for in this life.

I soooo look forward to one day attending one of these powerful and wonderful events with my daughter! When we are used of God miracles happen all around us. He's so amazing!
Last summer some friends and I did Kelly's "No Other Gods" study--it was fantastic and eye-opening. Love the song--how fitting!

Blessings,
Linda

Thanks for putting the slideshow up! I was so into the whole thing I hardly took a picture so now my husband and son can see what we girls were doing. The conference was exactly what we needed and we decided we want to go again every time my daughter moves up to the next age breakout group. Please come to Cincinnati, Vicki, we've got lots of moms & daughters who'd love to attend a You & Your Girl!!

Seeing younger girls worship excites my heart like nothing else! So glad this event was a success in the Lord. One of my BFF's just moved to Kentucky and I helped her move, so I was just there! Have a great week, Vicki!

Vicki, thanks for such a great time and for all useful information! My husband heard all about it over coffee the next day. :-) ...and then my Sunday School class heard about it ...and then my Daughter's friend's moms heard about it. My jaws are sore from sharing how wonderful this conference was!!! We are currently trying to organize a "Your Girl/ His Girl" study for Middle School age girls and their moms for this summer. Our goal is to follow it up with attending as a group to the next local conference. It is sooooo worth it! Thanks for all the effort that you put into your ministry!

Thank you so much for a wonderful day of worship, prayer, learning, and bonding with our daughters in KY. As a mom who is married to a wonderful man, but a man who is not a Christian, it is difficult parenting spiritually. This day was exactly what my daughter and I needed. Thank you so much for the ministry you are doing!

I attended with my 10 year old and 16 year old. Lets say the last few months at my house have been horrible. That's putting it mildly. Something happened during this weekend with my girls that turned my 16 year old heart back to God. Praise God and this seminar! She even said something happened but really couldnt be specific. I wanted to cry tears of joy instead of despair!!! Thank you!!!! Vickie Sprinkles, Mt. Juliet, TN

I am so happy that you have this slide show. We were there this weekend and so blessed. I am so happy that I can show my husband what an awesome time we had. It was worth waking up at 4 am and driving to KY! LOVED LOVED Kelly, her voice and words continue to be in my head and it is Thursday!!! Talk about staying power!

Blessings,

Vicki, Thank you so much for using your gifts from the Lord to encourage daughters and moms. I have had the privilege to attend three You and Your Girl events with my girls (ages 13 and 15). Thank you for your writings and teaching that helps me do the most important job, raise up Godly girls!

Hi Vicki~ My daughter and I were there, and it was one of the most valuable conferences I've ever attended! (I'm the one who told you how good you looked from the Shread! - sorry about that interruption, btw!)

I just got around to posting about it today on my blog (with some sweet pictures) in case you want to hear our take on the event. http://smellingcoffeetoday.blogspot.com/2009/04/you-and-your-girl-and-me-and-my-girl.html

I'm praying that many moms and daughters will take the opportunity to attend a You and Your Girl. I know that Abigail and I will be reaping the benefits of this conference for years to come.

Thank you for your obedience to the Lord and for serving Him faithfully where He has placed you.

My daughter and I really wanted to attend this event, but it wasn't meant to be (thanks recession). I hope you'll come to Missouri sometime soon! We need events like this.
