Nineteen years ago, I had a baby girl. Today, she's all growed up. The End.

video

I put this slide-show together a few weeks shy of moving Paige off to college last July. Given that the clip is less than a year-old, I am re-posting it today in celebration of her 19th birthday. She is in final exams this week at Auburn University and will begin the two day caravan home (along with her older brother), this Thursday. I can hardly wait to have all my little chicks home in the nest for the summer.

My prayer for my children has been that they would claim Christ for their very own and that this "Jesus" would become more than Mom and Dad's Jesus .... He would become their absolute everything. When Paige moved over 800 miles from home to attend college this past year, she hit the ground running, when it came to her faith. She immediately found a Bible-believing church to attend, a group of solid Christian friends, and made sure that Bible study was the main course in her diet. It has been an absolute joy to watch her journey (from afar). Keith and I can hardly wait to see what God has in store for her future.

Now, grab a tissue, enjoy the clip and then go hug your babies and say a prayer over them. Time flies. Before you know, you'll be the one posting the flashback clip. :)

The song is "Find Your Wings" by Mark Harris:

It's only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I'll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I'll want to know
You're walking in the truth

And if I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things

I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories

I pray that God will fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

It's not living if you don't reach for the sky
I'll have tears as you take off
But I'll cheer as you fly

I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I'm here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 4)

First of all,I've journey with you for over a year now and I saw this video posted when she was college bound as you called it, D day. (drop off day) I was crying then and so when I saw you posted the video again, I was telling myself don't do it, don't click that video, its a tear jerker, don't do it today you just registered your 2nd girl for kindergarten today, and what did I do???? clicked the video!? :/
Vicki- you have a very beautiful young lady who has a wonderful role model of loving Christ and being confident in who she is in Christ. This is one of the many prayers we say for our girls.. that they would be confident in who they are IN CHRIST.
Happy Birthday to your sweet daughter today what a blessed day it will be for you both. :)

My oldest daughter will turn 8 on Monday. I totally agree that time is flying. I cannot believe she will be 8. Wow.
I know a lot of Paige's friends, and you're right. She has surrounded herself with some amazing young women. And, of course, we both know how brilliant she is for choosing such a fine Institute of Higher Learning. :) If Hayden chooses Auburn, then I think you should win some sort of parenting award. 3 kids from Texas all choosing Auburn? Must have fab parents!
Congrats on being the mom of a 19 year old daughter! And WAR EAGLE!

Oh dear...

I have a 3 year old daughter who I know will be 19 in the blink of an eye...and I just want it to slow down!

A beautiful song and a beautiful daughter! Thanks for sharing...it's a great reminder to me to enjoy every second I have with her and to work hard to prepare her for finding her wings! Happy Birthday to your daughter and congrats on, obviously, a job well done!

Oh, that we would see just a glimpse of God's eternal perspective as we fumble through parenthood! Even a 19 year retrospect makes me long to retract every unkind word or erase every time I've lost my temper.

Ok, my oldest is only 5, and those 5 years have FLOWN! I know the next 14 will too.

What a great thing to do for her. I know she loved it.

Ok, my throat is in one big knot. Thank you very much. I have a 13 year old (Paige) and 9 year old. It is going by fast as you said.

She's a beautiful young woman.

My husband is a Georgia Bulldog, but grew up near Auburn.
Glad she likes it there.

Vicki,

Thank you for your post. The video is so wonderful and needed kleenex to make it through. Thanks for the hope and reminder that time is short! You have much to be grateful for! She's beautiful. Praying for both of us as I celebrate my twin daughters turning 16 May 10th. Time is flying....

I cry everytime I hear that song.

My baby will be 19 on June 1st and graduate from high school June 6th!

Happy Birthday sweet Paige.
Hope you feel God's blessings on your special day!

Dear vicki,
Our daughters are the same age. My Kalyn turned 19 in February. She is only 2 hours away at OBU, but wasn't able to come home for Mother's Day, my first without her.
I tell others often to enjoy their children, they grow up so fast!!!
Your video was wonderful, and you ministry is awesome. I hope to see and hear you again sometime!
Please let me know if you ever do something for college girls and moms!

I love that song, but these days it makes me cry because my oldest son (19) is going into the Marines in a few months. I have homeschooled him and am used to having him around. It's hard, but necessary, to let him go.

That was beautiful. Not to mention SHE is beautiful. I know you are very proud of her. I have 2 girls, one is 11 and one is 13. I have loved each and every day. I am NOT looking forward to them leaving and growing up. I know it will come no matter what I want. I just pray that what we have instilled in them will help them with each new step they take.
