Great reminder especially in a world that seeks to "prosecute" those who protect us. May we all remember why we have the freedoms that we do. They did not come easily.
Amen again. I remember growing up with Memorial Day parades, a program with veterans speaking, and cemetery visits. Nowadays our culture promotes "first weekend of summer, let's party!" over any thoughts of the deceased, esp. our vets! Thank you for the reminder!!
Thank you Vickie for this post. You are so right! It's SO seldom that we hear the REAL meaning of any of our holidays anymore! During Memorial Day weekend the past few years I have especially thought of the family of my oldest son's best friend who was killed in action in Iraq in 2004. He and my son were in the Marine Corps together and were both fighting in Fallujah at the time. My son was wounded badly enough that he is now medically retired but HE CAME HOME. His friend gave his all. He came home too but in a flag draped coffin. He was a TX boy. May God rest his soul.
